Inaki Williams signs currently longest lasting player contract

Athletic Bilbao's striker Inaki Williams is the player with a currently longest contract in the world of football. He signed a 9-year deal with Athletic.

Inaki Williams might be wearing Bilbao's shirt until he becomes rather an old player. He has put his signature on a deal that will keep him in the club until 2028.

During the summer, the striker was rumoured to be linked with Manchester United, but nothing came out of that. According to the new contract, his Sign on Free clause has been raised from 81 million to 121 million British pounds. That is the price that any interested club would have to pay to acquire his services.

“I’ve always said that I’m where I want to be, I’m very happy in Bilbao. I’m very happy at Athletic Club and I just have to show it with work, effort and above all trying to help the team with goals. The club has given me everything, I feel it is my home. I only have words of gratitude.”

This is still not the longest ever contract in football history. The longest contract was that of Denilson when he signed a 10-year contract with Real Madrid back in 1998.
