Bayern or Dortmund? Winner of Bundesliga to be decided in last round.

12.5.2019.

Borussia Dortmund - Dusseldorf 3: 2 (1: 0)

RB Leipzig - Bayern Munich 0:0

It seemed done and dusted just a few weeks ago when Borussia Dortmund started losing points and fell to the second position, but the 2018/2019 Bundesliga will still be decided on the last day of the season. After RB Leipzig held Bayern Munich to a goalless draw, and with the BVB's hard-fought victory over Dusseldorf, the difference is just two points. And the last matchday brings derby clashes for both title contenders.

In the derby of the 33rd matchday, the third-placed RB Leipzig held the reigning champions to a 0:0 draw. Leon Goretzka well thought that he will be the man to bring Bayern the seventh consecutive title as his powerful shot ended up in RB's net, but the VAR disallowed it for a Robert Lewandowski offside. Bayern president Uli Hoenes called the decision the "joke of the year" as he thinks that the offside was not existent.

On the other hand, Dortmund players gave their loyal fans another thriller, as a five-goal match was decided in the dying minutes of the game. Chelsea-bound Christian Pulisic gave BVB the lead in the first half, but his goal was annulled two minutes after the break by Oliver Fink. Danish midfielder Thomas Delaney gave the home side the lead again six minutes later. It was a stressful game as Dusseldorf missed a penalty shortly after, before receiving a red card in minute 82'. Mario Gotze showed his striking technique in the 92' minute as he caught a low volley, while Dawid Kownacki settled the final score three minutes after.

It is really not all over. In the last day of the season, Bayern will welcome the motivated Eintracht Frankfurt, while BVB will travel to another Champions League spot seeking club - Borussia Monchengladbach. If the Millionaires win and Eintracht defeats Bayern we will have a new champion of Germany. Stranger things have happened.

Bundesliga Standings

2. Dortmund 73pts
