Arsenal in shopping: David Luiz and Kiernan Tierney to join today

The Gunners are giving maximum effort to strengthen the squad before the transfer window closes. Yesterday, Celtic agreed to sell left-back Kieran Tierney for €25m in a record transfer fee for Scottish player. Today, Arsenal arranged another defender - David Luiz from Chelsea.

The Premier League club was two times rejected already by Scottish champions but the board was determined to bring perspective 22-year-old left-back.

Tierney will sign a five-year contract if the deal is completed before the deadline.

Arsenal manager Unnai Emmery expressed his minds on the recent activities in the club.

"We want our supporters to be happy, to be the best team with the best players."

"We tried to sign some important and expensive players for our defence"

After his words, the fresh news came about the new player in the dressing room.

Another, more famous defender than young Tierney will join Arsenal. The experienced Brazil international David Luiz will have a medical at Emirates Stadium on Thursday. Centre back will join from the fierce rivals Chelsea for €10m, as he accepted the personal conditions with Arsenal.

The ex-Gunners captain Laurent Koscielny left to French side Bordeaux a few days ago, and 32-year Luiz is projected to be the replacement for Koscielny. Luiz has spent six seasons at Chelsea during two spells and had ups and downs, but seems Frank Lampard has the credit to implement his new ideas into the team and he decided to give chance to younger players instead of Luiz.

Luiz enjoyed a central role under Italian coach Maurizio Sarri last season, as Chelsea finished a third-placed In Premier League and lifted the Europe League title.

Spaniard will get the fresh blood in the team, but will it be enough for Arsenal to fight against the heavy competition? The only sure thing - it's not going to be an easy mission.
